MEDIA RELEASE

With strategic appointment, Andrews Partnership shows continuing commitment to clients’ ESG initiatives and helping to build a more sustainable future.

Singapore, March 1, 2023 – Andrews Partnership, a leading specialist executive search firm, announced today that it has appointed Wesley Goh, a former life-sciences specialist, to join the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practice. This strategic appointment underlines the firm’s commitment to playing an instrumental role in the development of ESG in the region, powered by a belief that ESG has become a primary catalyst of APAC’s commercial growth prospects.

Goh joins Andrews Partnership from Odgers Berndtson, where he gained extensive experience working on complex assignments within life sciences, specifically research and development for future foods and alternative proteins. With a degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Western Australia, and a passion for social action and change, Goh is well-equipped to make real and impactful contributions in the ESG space.

According to research from Andrews Partnership, 2022 was the “Year of the Chief ESG Officer,” with the discipline now recognised as integral to commercial success and duly elevated to become a core function of the corporate executive. The evidence of that meteoric rise is everywhere: ESG has become a non-negotiable board item across both private and public sectors, and a key focus of government regulation. There has been a boom in green financing – recognition that outside investors see ESG as the decade’s great market opportunity. And internally we are witnessing increasing corporate scrutiny of sources and suppliers, as businesses look to reduce the environmental impact of their activities and eliminate unethical labour practices in their supply chains.

“Our commitment to ESG as a principle, and to supporting our clients in this space, runs across the whole of APAC, not just Singapore,” adds Andrews Partnership APAC Managing Director, Katrina Andrews. “Because with increasing calls for stronger sustainability reporting, supply-chain scrutiny and direct action in the form of carbon taxes, corporations throughout the region are having to adapt fast. Their most fundamental need is to ensure, first of all, that they are fully compliant and accountable, so having highly experienced talent overseeing ESG has suddenly become a non-negotiable requirement. And while this is still a growing space – to some extent, uncharted territory – it is also growing rapidly, so we’re seeing the best of the talent pool being snapped up fast. So there really is nothing more important to a company’s growth prospects right now – and its basic licence to operate – than moving swiftly to ensure it has acquired the best ESG leadership in the market.”

Goh adds, “The calls for social action and change have always been major parts of my commercial philosophy, and we have seen how sustainability and ethical considerations have created seismic shifts for large corporations who were traditionally only profit-driven. Corporations are now taking active steps to prevent environmental degradation, and there has never been more collaboration across industry to care for the planet. I am thrilled to join a specialist firm that enables me to make real and impactful contributions in this space.”
